Outdoor Bloggers goody bag and my Environmental Heroes

The most recent Outdoor Bloggers gathering was in the beautiful location of Cheddar in Somerset. Having put up the tent, we sat around the campfire with everyone, eating our dinner. Following a quiz, which I was hopeless at(!), we were presented with a bag full of goodies.

I’m grateful for all the goodies we received, and they were all given with no obligation to blog or mention them. However, all the gifts make our outdoor adventures a little easier. I mentioned in my blog of the weekend that we were rescued by Outdoor World Direct and their gift of a long-handled spoon. I mean who forgets to pack the cutlery!  Also, I have to give a special mention to two companies doing their bit for the environment.

So, here are my environmental heroes:

Firepot and Storm goodies

With thanks also to Hi-tec, Sigg, Kleen Kanteen, The Protein ball Co., GP Batteries, Marine Superstore, Joe’s Tea, Ordnance Survey, Mr Lee’s Noodles, Adam and Russell, and Joby for the awesome goodies.

Firepot – Firepot meals gifted us some of their expedition food in their new compostable bio packaging. We really enjoy Firepot’s meals and it’s great they now offer the option of the new bio packaging. These meals need to be emptied into a pan to be cooked, unlike their tradition range which you cook in the bag. You just need to consider what you’re cooking on. They are also hoping to develop a packet which is compostable that you can cook in the packet. All great news for the environment and they taste delicious too.

Storm – Storm provided us with some Active gear wash and Reproof in their new cool Aluminium plastic free packaging! Reproofed clothes and less plastic packaging are winners in our book.

Who are your environmental heroes? Let me know as I’m always on the lookout to be a bit greener.
