Piglets Adventure Farm Pumpkin Festival

The last weekend of half term meant just enough time to squeeze in another spooky family day outside. We headed to Piglets Adventure Farm, just off the A64 near York, for their pumpkin festival.

There’s so much to do at the farm, and once you’ve paid to get in you’re free to have a go at everything from go-carts and bouncing pillows to fairy trails and magic shows. Both kids were really excited and we were pulled in all directions as they couldn’t decide what to try first.

We settled on going inside ‘Mischief Manor’ and as we waited in the queue a ghoulish ‘estate agent’ kept us entertained with his jokes. I won’t spoil what happens when you are shown around inside the manor, but there was some darkness and flashing lights and I may have uttered a little scream!

After that it was a blur of having a go at everything else including riding go-carts, exploring the fairy trail, bouncy pillows and a pumpkin slingshot. We walked around the farm and met the new-born piglets in the maternity wing and the kids had a go at brushing a wild boar. The weather was kind and despite just a little wind we sat outside for our picnic. There were a few other undercover places to eat lunch including a cosy tee-pee with roaring fire, and places to buy lunch if you didn’t have a picnic.

After an entertaining magic show in another tee-pee, we took a tractor ride to the pumpkin field for the kids to pick their own pumpkins. They could have carved them there but decided to wait to do it at home.

We had a great day and after all that fun, we had muddy, happy kids ready to go home. I had been worried that there wouldn’t be enough to keep my 9-year-old entertained but he enjoyed himself as much as my 6-year-old Daughter.

Top tips:

Take your wellies! We saw a few people wearing white trainers that sadly would never be the same again.

We booked our tickets online before we went and there was a small discount.

Maybe take a bag for your pumpkin if your child, like mine, decides to pick the biggest and gets you to carry it!

All views are honest and my own and we received no incentive to write about our visit.

  1. What a fab day out, it’s great that your pumpkin patch had more than just pumpkin picking to explore. I bet the kids loved spending the afternoon exploring the adventure farm, bouncy pillows and go karts are always a big hit. The haunted house sounds like a great fun experience too, a totally different experience for pumpkin picking.

Thanks for linking up with me on #CountryKids.

    1. My kids loved that there was so much to do and they could have a go on everything, great value for money. The haunted house was certainly a little different!
