Beningbrough Hall

At last the weekend brought us sunshine and the feeling that indeed Spring is here. A great day for a family adventure and we headed to Beningbrough Hall, a National trust site not far from York. We’ve finally decided to buy National Trust membership, so this was the perfect opportunity to get it and use it.

We’ve not visited before, so I wasn’t sure what we would find but the photos I had seen looked stunning, and I wasn’t disappointed. My youngest asked if we could buy a house like this!

We wandered around the grounds, the kids taking part in an egg hunting trail, whilst we waited for the hall to open. The gardens are lovely to wander around and the Spring sunshine was actually quite warm! The kids found the playground and had a great time in the fort, den building and playing on the swings. We also discovered the pond and some very noisy toads. We were having such a great time outside that the kids missed the last egg on their list.

After lunch in the walled garden restaurant, chicken pie and a sneaky wine, we went to discover what was inside the hall. The hall has an exhibition developed with the National Portrait gallery celebrating creative women. My daughter loves dancing so was really pleased to see the Darcey Bussell portrait. All too soon it was time to go home. A great day out and a new discovery of a place we hope to visit again. Next time I’m planning on discovering the walking trails.

Have you visited Beningbrough Hall or walked in the area?

All views are honest and my own and I’ve received no incentive to write this post.

Happy Easter and thank you for sharing with me on #CountryKids

  3. I love the National Trust sites, but we have only visited a very small section of them, we definitely need to make more use out of our cards this year. Beningbrough Hall looks beautiful though – and I agree with your youngest, would be lovely to buy a house like that! #CountryKids
